Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, confirmed that the results of the audit and the visit of the audit committee assigned by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to Tripoli’s Mitiga and Misrata airports were at a positive level.
Libyan airspace has become a transit route
Al-Shahoubi added, in his statement to the official Libyan state news agency, LANA, yesterday, that Libya has now become a transit country for aviation. He said the number of planes flying over Libyan airspace per month exceeded more than 1,500 flights, adding that this will be a good factor for Libya.

Al-Shahoubi was speaking to LANA after his meeting on Thursday in Tripoli with the Vice President of the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Al-Fawzan, and the delegation of the Audit Committee visiting Libya.
Tripoli government putting great effort in aviation sector
The Minister of Transport explained that the audit committee will visit, in the next phase, Sebha and Benghazi’s Benina airports. He said this audit visit came based on a very great effort adopted by the Tripoli government to develop the civil aviation sector and in implementation of the agreements signed with the Arab Civil Aviation Organization to raise the level of work at Libyan airports.
The minister said that in the past few days, a number of agreements were signed with Qatar and the UAE, and yesterday he had held a meeting with the Saudi embassy and the Saudi Civil Aviation Organization in order to return Saudi Airlines flights to Libyan airports.
This will contribute to the stability of Libya and help in the conduct of air navigation, he added.
