Eastern Libya signs MoU to construct its section of the Egypt – Libya – Chad Transit Road Project

‎The Hafter controlled Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund signed a memorandum of understanding last Saturday (7 September) with Egypt’s Arab Contractors Company for the construction of the Libyan section of the Egypt-Libya-Chad Transit Road Project.

The Fund said this comes in implementation of the strategic plan that it is working to implement throughout the (parts of the) country ‎(under its control).

‎393 kms long
The length of the section inside Libya will be 393 kilometres starting from Awainat on the border with Egypt to the border of Chad. ‎

‎The Fund said the work will begin on the implementation of this project in the near future because of its great importance as an international road that will be implemented with the highest international standards. ‎

A link to the Red Sea
By linking Libya, Chad and Egypt to the Red Sea, the international road project will be the first phase of the commercial desert road for transit trade. ‎
