The Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA) announced today that it has launched a direct shipping line from Misrata Free Zone port, passing through Tangier, Morocco, towards several African markets, including Nigeria and Cameroon.
LEDA said this comes as part of its efforts to support exporters and enhance the access of national products to foreign markets.
It said its support for this shipping line aims to reduce shipping costs for Libyan exporters and provide a maritime route that contributes to facilitating the movement of exports and opening new opportunities for national products in African markets.
The project also comes as a complement to the Authority's efforts to support companies wishing to export to Africa, and to turn meetings and coordination with exporters into practical steps that help them reach the target markets.
The launch of the line represents a step in its direction towards developing non-oil exports and enhancing the presence and competitiveness of the Libyan product in African markets.
