Libya’s National Development Agency’s (NDA) Director General, Mahmoud Al-Furjani, expressed his readiness to explore direct investment financing opportunities for the maintenance and development of the current Tunis-Carthage International Airport.
He also floated the alternative idea of the establishment of a brand-new airport in Tunis at another site. The revelation came during the Libyan-French Economic Summit held in Sirte on 10 September.
Al-Furjani highlighted the NDA's extensive expertise in airport management and rehabilitation.
He cited the successful completion and restoration of international operations at Sirte Gulf Airport, alongside ongoing comprehensive development works at Sebha Airport and projects for the new Benghazi International Airport, as credentials that position the NDA to expand its collaborative investment ventures across the region.
He said the NDA is aiming to boost regional cooperation in infrastructure and air transport.
