The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund (LDRF) launched the Global Competitive Urban Planning Initiative (Greater Benghazi) in Benghazi, as part of the preparation of the city's master plan and its future vision.
The Director General of the Fund, Belgasem Haftar, inaugurated the work of the initiative in the presence of representatives of several national and international companies, institutions and consulting offices, in addition to a group of engineers, experts and specialists, and with the participation of the Commercial Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Libya.
The initiative aims to prepare an integrated vision for urban expansion and infrastructure development, benefiting from international expertise and standards in the fields of urban planning, smart cities and sustainability.
The activities included discussion sessions, accompanied by presentations of the proposed plans and perceptions for Greater Benghazi, and a review of a number of international experiences in the field of urban planning
This step comes within the framework of the Fund's orientation towards adopting long-term planning that keeps pace with the urban and economic growth of the city of Benghazi, and lays an integrated foundation for its development.
