The Benghazi based Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy on cooperation, partnership, and technical integration in the fields of electricity and renewable energy, aiming to enhance coordination and expand the scope of joint efforts in the coming period.
The signing came at the conclusion of the Director-General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgasem Haftar’s, meeting yesterday with the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss prospects for cooperation in supporting the electricity sector and meeting Libya's development and reconstruction needs.
The two sides discussed ways to develop and enhance the efficiency of the electricity grid, as well as how to strengthen cooperation in implementing renewable energy projects to keep pace with urban expansion and ongoing projects in Libyan cities.
The Fund said its Director General called for practical cooperation—translated into clear implementation measures and specific timelines—during the meeting.
It added that the meeting aimed to formulate an urgent plan to curb power outages, upgrade the grid, enhance operational efficiency, and train personnel, with the goal of making improved service for citizens the focal point of this joint effort.
