The Federation of Egyptian Industries and the General Union of Chambers of Commerce in Benghazi discussed establishing a permanent exhibition for Egyptian products in Libya, supported by warehouses and centers for logistical services and marketing, as part of an effort to expand industrial, commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Egyptian-Libyan Industrial Integration Exhibition in Benghazi to be held in April 2027
The step comes within a cooperation protocol signed by the two sides to organize an annual Egyptian-Libyan industrial integration exhibition in Benghazi, the first session of which is initially scheduled to be held during April 2027.
This comes with the aim of linking companies and factories in the two countries and encouraging the establishment of joint projects and investments.
Encouraging joint projects and value chains between the two sides
The Head of the Exhibitions and Small Projects Committee of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Hisham El-Gazzar, said that the agreement aims to support industrial integration, transfer technology and expertise, and encourage joint projects and value chains between the two sides, in a way that contributes to increasing the movement of trade and investment and raising the competitiveness of products in the Libyan and Egyptian markets.
Opportunities for integration and investment within Libyan market
He explained that the targeted sectors include building materials, food, chemical and engineering industries, plastics, wood, furniture, clothing, textiles, leather and shoes, in addition to other sectors in which there are opportunities for integration and investment within the Libyan market.
Combining Egyptian industrial capabilities with strategic location of Libya
For his part, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce in Benghazi, Saleh Al-Obaidi, said that the future vision for cooperation is based on combining Egyptian industrial capabilities with the strategic location of Libya, which contributes to building an economic platform to reach African markets.
Libya working to strengthen role as centre for transit trade towards deep Africa
Al-Obaidi indicated that Libya is working to strengthen its role as a centre for transit trade movement towards deep Africa, especially the markets of Chad, Niger, Sudan and Mali, by developing storage areas and logistical services and securing the movement of commercial convoys, in addition to benefiting from free zones to facilitate the arrival of products to the targeted markets.
