Libyan Development & Reconstruction Fund signs contracts for new Tobruk projects with Slovenian, French, Turkish, Italian, and Egyptian companies

Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund signs contract with Turkey’s Ankamenia for maintenance of Benghazi University’s medical colleges

The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund announced yesterday that its Director General, Belgasem Khalifa Haftar, signed several contracts for new development projects in Tobruk. The Fund said these come as part of the follow-up and implementation of comprehensive development plans in Tobruk.

It reported that these strategic projects include the following:

• A maintenance project for the Tobruk desalination plant (with a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters) with the Slovenian company Hidromontaza.

• A supply of spare parts for the Tobruk desalination plant (with a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters) with the French company Sidem (part of Veolia Water Technologies).

• A sports city with a capacity of 20,000 seats was constructed in Tobruk with the Turkish company ‘‘Bebra’’.

• A wastewater treatment plant was constructed in Tobruk with the Arab Contractors Company.

• A memorandum of understanding was signed to establish a desalination plant with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day in Tobruk with the French companies Sidem and Veolia.

• A bridge construction project in the city of Guba with the Arab Contractors Company.

• A Memorandum of Understanding to study the construction of a desalination plant with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters with the Italian company ‘‘Tesi’’.

• Development and expansion of the 16-kilometer-long Al-Gubba-Ras Al-Hilal road with the Arab Contractors Company.

• Upgrading the Al-Wardiya road and ferry with the Arab Contractors Company.

• Comprehensive development, maintenance, and treatment of the 280-kilometer-long Al-Jaghbub-Tobruk road with the United Engineers Company.

• Construction of a sewage treatment plant in the city of Al-Marj with the Arab Contractors Company.

Additionally, the Fund reported that several projects will be implemented in the health, education, infrastructure, and public utilities sectors, along with the completion of projects that have been stalled for many years, ensuring a qualitative leap in the level of services provided to citizens and enhancing the development process in the region.

The Fund said Belgasem Khalifa Haftar emphasized that these projects are part of a comprehensive development vision aimed at supporting stability and achieving sustainable development in various cities and regions, noting that implementation will be conducted according to the highest approved technical and engineering standards.
