The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced yesterday its celebration of the success of Mellitah Oil & Gas Company’s execution of the KK Station Gas Utilization Project and commencing trial operations.
Recovery of full volume of associated gas: 15 million cubic feet per day
The NOC said the project is significant for its ability to recover the full volume of associated gas from the station's wells—amounting to 15 million cubic feet per day—and transport it via a 40-kilometer pipeline to the Abu Attifel field.
Supplying national grid with energy and supporting local market gas needs
At Abu Attifel field, the gas is processed at the natural gas liquefaction plant before being pumped toward the Zueitina hub and connected to the coastal network, thereby supplying the national grid with energy and supporting local market needs.
Towards NOC’s strategy to achieve "zero gas flaring" by 2030
The NOC said that, beyond its economic importance in boosting production and fostering sustainable operations, this project represents a pivotal step toward reducing environmental emissions, protecting the environment, and supporting the NOC’s strategy to achieve "zero gas flaring" by 2030.
