The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported today that technical teams at Mellitah Oil & Gas Company achieved a significant operational milestone by completing maintenance work on well A-24 at the Abu Attifel field.
The NOC said the project, part of the company’s programme to enhance well efficiency, involved replacing completion equipment and re-perforating the producing formations.
The maintenance work resulted in a marked improvement in the well's production performance. Oil production rose from 403 to 1,201 barrels per day—an increase of 798 barrels (approximately 198%)—while gas production increased from 3.20 to 6.42 million standard cubic feet per day, a rise of nearly 101%.
Flow test results, conducted using a 64/64-inch choke, demonstrated stable well performance with a production rate of 1,201 barrels per day and a water cut of 7%. Monitoring and evaluation are ongoing during the stabilization period to ensure optimal production performance is maintained.
The NOC said this achievement reflects the competence of the company’s national workforce and the success of the implemented engineering solutions. It contributes to the NOC’s strategic plan to boost production rates in support of the national economy and aligns with continuous efforts to evaluate and develop wells, thereby ensuring supply sustainability and reinforcing the oil and gas sector as a cornerstone of development in Libya.
