The Tripoli based Libyan government reported yesterday that Founding Committee of the National Aviation Holding Company held a meeting to follow up on the implementation of the national carrier's (Libyan United Airlines - LUA) action plan.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Transport and head of the committee, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, and attended by Mustafa Al-Mana, head of the Executive Team for the Prime Minister's Initiatives and Strategic Projects, Mohamed Shlibek, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, and several experts and specialists in the aviation sector,
May meeting with Boeing
The meeting reviewed the half-year report on the partnership with Boeing, including progress made since the agreement was signed in Washington, D.C., last May. It also reviewed the market and capital disclosure model, completed implementation steps, and the tasks and work plans for the next phase.

The committee discussed ways to move the project forward within a clear institutional framework and professional standards that align with international best practices in the aviation industry. The aim is to leverage international expertise and partnerships to build a comprehensive model for the national carrier that meets the needs of the Libyan market and enhances operational efficiency and the level of services provided to passengers.
Imminent opening and operation of Tripoli International Airport
The meeting also discussed plans to expand the network of flights and destinations and connect Libya with more regional and international cities, coinciding with the imminent opening and operation of Tripoli International Airport. This expansion will provide a broader operational base and support the growth of air traffic.
Taking advantage of Libya's geographical location
These measures come within the framework of the government’s direction to develop the aviation sector and enhance its operational and technical capabilities, and to take advantage of Libya’s geographical location in expanding air connectivity, supporting the movement of citizens, trade, investment and tourism, and enhancing Libya’s presence on the regional and international air transport map.
