The Tripoli based Libyan government reported yesterday that, Mustafa Al-Mana, Head of the Executive Team for the Prime Minister’s Initiatives and Strategic Projects, held a virtual meeting, on the same day, with Boeing officials to review the progress of the partnership and the project to launch a new airline, as well as achievements made in their joint efforts to date.

This virtual meeting follows on from a series of face-to-face and virtual meetings held between the two sides since 2025.

The meeting addressed updates regarding the aircraft fleet, technical support, operations, and training, alongside feasibility study indicators, the financing model, and the commercial and operational aspects of the project.

Representatives from Boeing included Keith Naida (Commercial Airplanes Sales Director), Karim Freund (Account Director for the Middle East and Africa at Boeing Global Services), and Michael Castle (Senior Aviation Consultant).

The Tripoli government said this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba’s vision to develop Libya’s aviation sector and launch a modern airline that meets international standards. It said that by leveraging Boeing’s global expertise, the project aims to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and diversify revenue sources for the national economy.

It will be recalled that the Tripoli government launched a new airliner in December last year called Libyan United Airlines (LUA). Its logo was revealed in February this year.
