Libya’s Transport Ministry’s Airports Authority reported yesterday that Tripoli International’s Operational Readiness, Activation, and Transfer Committee (ORAT) held an expanded meeting yesterday, chaired by the committee’s head and attended by the heads of the committee’s technical teams.
The meeting was to review the latest field developments regarding the Tripoli International Airport rehabilitation and development project.
ORAT is a structured methodology used in aviation to bridge the gap between finishing construction and launching live airport operations.
Its main goal is to make sure facilities, complex equipment, digital systems, and trained staff function seamlessly from day one, preventing opening-day failures.
The meeting addressed the latest workflow updates and reviewed technical observations detailed in the report submitted to the Minister of Transport.
Discussions also covered the immediate corrective measures taken by the executing company to address these issues and ensured adherence to established timelines to prevent any delays.
Concluding the meeting, the committee chairman emphasized the critical importance of rigorous and continuous field monitoring of all ongoing works on both the landside and airside, stressing the need for comprehensive periodic reports that document completion rates and performance metrics in real-time.
The news of the ORAT Committee meeting is further proof that Tripoli International Airport is to open soon.
The ORAT Committee meeting comes on the back of last Wednesday’s (23 September) Ministry of Transport inauguration of the new Air Traffic Management Centre — located next to Tripoli International Airport.
