Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, discussed with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and support the return of major British companies to invest and work in the Libyan market. Energy, mining, services, and the information technology sectors were the focus of discussions.
The Minister reviewed the vision of the Tripoli Prime Minister for the "Quality of Life" phase, which comes as a complement to the successes of the "Return to Life" plan, and is based on creating wealth for society through optimal investment of natural resources, the development of manufacturing industries, and the strengthening of value-added chains, which contributes to diversifying the economy, creating job opportunities and attracting quality investments.
The two sides also discussed the completion of the formation and activation of the Libyan-British Business Council to be an effective platform to enhance partnerships between the private sector in the two countries, encourage trade and investment exchange, and organize economic events that contribute to expanding the presence of British companies in Libya and exploring promising investment opportunities.
