The French Embassy in Tripoli reported today that on 7 and 9 September 2026, the Internal Security Service of the French Embassy in Libya organized a visit to France for five senior officers from the Libyan Presidential Guard, focusing on the protection of institutions and high-profile figures.

The Embassy said the Libyan delegation engaged in extensive discussions with officers and various specialists from the 1st Republican Security Company (CRS 1), the Protection Service (SDLP), and the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN).

Following these productive exchanges, the visit identified specific areas for technical cooperation, such as:

•         Risk assessment methods

•         The organization of VIP protection arrangements

•         Security analysis

•         Counter-drone operations

•         Ensuring the safety of motorcades

The Embassy said these topics will pave the way for specialized training programmes soon and facilitate the exchange of information and expertise between Libya and France regarding the protection of institutions and individuals.
