Reporting on hosting the high-level Libyan economic delegation on an official visit to Japan from July 7 to 10 July, the Libyan Embassy in Tokyo said the delegation’s Japan visit had come in the context of strengthening bilateral relations between Libya and Japan, and in implementation of the directives of the Tripoli government aimed at expanding the horizons of economic and investment cooperation with friendly countries,

The high-level Libyan economic delegation was headed by Khalifa Abdel-Sadig, Minister of Oil and Gas, and included Suhail Abu Shiha, Minister of Economy and Trade, Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, and several heads of economic institutions.

The visit programme included meetings with several senior officials in the Japanese government, including the Minister of Economic and Financial Policy and Administrative Reform, as well as officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the Chairman of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, the Chairman of the Japan Export and Investment Insurance Corporation, and the Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in addition to several major Japanese financial and economic institutions and companies.

Discussions focused on ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation and reviewed partnership opportunities in the fields of energy, trade, infrastructure, and development, in a manner that serves the common interests of both countries.

The delegation also participated in the second Libyan-Japanese Economic Forum, which was attended by Japanese officials and business leaders. The forum served as a platform to enhance economic dialogue, showcase promising investment opportunities in Libya, and encourage Japanese companies to expand their presence in the Libyan market.

On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation held a series of meetings with representatives of Japanese companies and economic institutions. During these meetings, the investment climate in Libya was reviewed, and discussions were held regarding cooperation and the establishment of strategic partnerships that support development efforts and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
