Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Health, Mohamed Al-Ghouj, signed the first memorandum of cooperation in the health sector between Libya and Japan yesterday with his Japanese counterpart, Kenichiro Ueno, during an official visit to Japan.
The memorandum aims to support training, professional development, and the exchange of expertise; to develop health institutions and services; and to leverage Japanese technologies and experience to strengthen the capabilities of Libya's health sector.
Al-Ghouj also held meetings with various Japanese officials—including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japanese parliament (the Diet)—to discuss expanding areas of cooperation and supporting priority health initiatives.
The visit included a tour of the Ariake Cancer Institute Hospital to observe the medical and specialized services, as well as the modern technologies employed in the diagnosis and treatment of tumours.
