Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Oil and Gas reported yesterday that its Minister, Khalifa Abdel-Sadig, held a meeting with the Norwegian Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland, on the sidelines of the ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) 2026 conference, in Stavanger, Norway (24 to 27 August), to discuss enhancing cooperation between Libya and Norway in the energy sector.
The meeting follows a series of meetings held by the Minister on the sidelines of ONS 2026.
The discussion focused on leveraging Norwegian expertise in petroleum resource management, technology, field development, and capacity building.
The Minister emphasized that the meeting aligns with the directives Tripoli Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, to expand international partnerships within the energy sector, attract investment and advanced technologies, and strengthen cooperation with nations possessing leading expertise in the field.
The meeting addressed establishing a direct cooperation pathway between the two ministries and encouraging Norwegian companies to invest and operate in Libya. Discussions also covered collaboration on renewable energy, offshore field development, knowledge exchange, and the training of national talent.
