Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, held a meeting with Kirk Johnson, Executive Vice President of Global Operations and Technical Functions, and Steinar Fagge, President of ConocoPhillips for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, on the sidelines of the ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) 2026 Conference and Exhibition held in Stavanger, Norway from 24–27 August.

The Minister of Oil and Gas reported that the meeting discussed ConocoPhillips' investment plans for the next phase, development programmes for the Waha concessions and production increases, building upon the 2026 agreement that extended the concessions until 2050. Opportunities to employ modern technologies and developing national expertise were also discussed.

The Minister emphasized the importance of expediting the implementation of investments and development projects and addressing any challenges they may face, in order to support production increases and strengthen the long-term partnership with the company.

The meeting was also attended by Faisal Miloud, Chairman of Zueitina Oil Company, and Salem Amdeqish, Ambassador of Libya to Denmark and Norway.
