Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported today that, in line with its strategies to increase production, the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) has achieved a new milestone by bringing well Z3HR-80, in the Majid field, back online at a rate of 7,355 barrels per day.
This follows a 22-year hiatus during which it had been classified as a non-producing observation well.
Test results indicate that the well is producing the 7,355 barrels of oil per day via natural flow, with a water cut of 0%.
Directional drilling & well re-entry techniques used by CAMCO & Baker Hughes
The NOC revealed that this achievement was made possible through the use of directional drilling and well re-entry techniques, in collaboration with CAMCO and Baker Hughes.
Leveraging modern technology & technical expertise to reactivate idle wells
The NOC said this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to leveraging modern technology and technical expertise to reactivate idle wells and maximize the utilization of available resources, in alignment with the strategic plan of the NOC.
The NOC emphasized that this accomplishment clearly demonstrates the capability of the national workforce to transform technical challenges into tangible opportunities for increasing production and supporting the national economy. It said it serves as a practical embodiment of its directives aimed at boosting production rates and rehabilitating idle or shut-in wells.
