The Libyan Ports Company reported yesterday that Kenneth Camilleri—Director of the Malta-based Camilleri Marine—visited the company’s branch at the Port of Tripoli on the same day.
This comes as part of the Libyan Ports Company’s initiative to establish a specialized centre for the maintenance and servicing of marine safety equipment for vessels.
During the visit, Camilleri toured the "Oea Marine Centre," which is slated to open soon, following the completion of technical procedures and the installation of the necessary equipment to commence operations.
The visit included discussions on the centre’s operational mechanisms and ways to implement the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties. These efforts aim to foster cooperation and enhance the technical services provided for the maintenance and servicing of marine safety equipment for vessels.
The meeting and visit were attended by the Chairman of the Libyan Ports Company, the manager of the company’s Tripoli Port branch, and the company’s Director of Maritime Affairs. Also in attendance were the Acting Head of the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority, the Authority’s Director of Maritime Affairs, the Head of the Maritime Affairs Department at the port administration, and a technical consultant representing Viking—a manufacturer of life rafts.
At the conclusion of the visit, an agreement was reached on several executive steps and procedures to accelerate the completion of the necessary preparations. This will pave the way for the "Oea Marine Centre"—the first of its kind in Libya, designed in accordance with international standards—to begin its operations and fulfil its functions.
