‎Libya’s Airports Authority reported last Wednesday (15 April) ‎that a specialized committee from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) visited Mitiga International Airport to determine the extent of compliance with ICAO’s international standards and recommended practices(SARPs).

The tour included a review of technical systems, an audit of aviation security and safety procedures, in addition to an evaluation of the efficiency of ground services.

The Airports Authority said this visit reflects the continuous efforts to raise the level of operational performance and ensure the readiness of the airport to receive international flights in accordance with the highest international quality standards.‎

It will be recalled that the EU’s flight ban on Libya is still effective.
