Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, has appointed Mohamed Omar Ben Ghalboun as his new Minister of State for Cabinet Prime Ministerial Affairs, replacing Adel Juma.
The confirmation of the appointment came in the way of a post by the Tripoli government on one of its social media accounts reporting on Ben Ghalboun chairing an emergency meeting on the current fuel shortage crisis enveloping Tripoli.
The February 2025 assassination attempt on Adel Juma
It will be recalled that Adel Juma had survived an assassination attempt on 12 February last year. Reports had said his car was subjected to a hail of bullets in broad daylight on the Second Ring Road (motorway). Some of these bullets were believed to have injured his leg/legs. He was initially rushed to A&E at Tripoli’s Abu Saleem Hospital for an emergency operation. A photo of him in hospital with several government members was posted on social media. Subsequently he was flown to Rome for specialised treatment on his injuries believed to be to his leg.
