Libya’s Tripoli based Health Ministry announced yesterday that its Minister, Mohamed Al-Ghouj, signed a memorandum of understanding in the health sector with his Moroccan counterpart, Amine Tahraoui. The MoU was signed yesterday on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly being held in Geneva from 18–23 May 2026.
The key points of the Memorandum of Understanding were:
– Exchange of information and expertise on health and medical issues of mutual interest
– Implementation of basic and continuing training and development programmes for medical and paramedical personnel to enhance their skills
– Encouragement of joint scientific research and studies in health and medical fields in both countries
– Development of institutional cooperation through twinning programmes between health institutions and hospitals in both countries
The signing of this memorandum, the Ministry said, comes within the framework of the Libyan state’s commitment to strengthening joint Arab action and embracing leading health experiences, which will contribute to supporting the reform and development process within the national health sector, raising the efficiency of healthcare personnel, and improving the quality of medical services provided to citizens.
The Ministry added that this step also embodies the commitment of the Ministry of Health to building effective strategic partnerships and expanding the horizons of regional and international cooperation in a way that serves common interests and supports efforts to develop the national health system according to a vision based on integration and the exchange of expertise.
