Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, affirmed his Ministry’s orientation towards building a more disciplined and transparent business environment.
His affirmation came during a meeting held with the Mayor of Jadu Municipality, in the presence of members of the Municipal Council, and directors of the competent departments and offices at the Ministry. The meeting came as part of his visit to the municipalities of the Western Mountains.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed that the plan of the Ministry of Economy and Trade aims to build a more disciplined and transparent commercial environment that preserves the rights of both consumers and traders.
He pointed out that market regulation and price correction are among the most important tools to combat corruption and enhance the ability of municipalities to provide goods at fair prices to citizens.
The Minister also stressed the importance of benefiting from the data of its “National Price Observatory” in following up on market movement and monitoring prices and the level of availability of goods in various municipalities, in order to support the Ministry’s efforts to enhance trade stability.
The Minister also stressed the need to adhere to the quality and standard specifications of local and supplied goods and products, in line with the government’s directions towards supporting the production economy and enhancing added value.
