Libya’s National Cancer Control Authority announced yesterday that, in collaboration with AstraZeneca Libya, it organised its first specialized oncology consultative meeting in 15 years.
Headquartered in the UK, AstraZeneca is a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.
The National Cancer Control Authority said the move reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting and developing oncology services in Libya.
The meeting, held within the framework of the scientific cooperation agreement between the two parties, brought together a select group of physicians and consultants from across Libya.
The National Cancer Control Authority said the session focused on the patient journey in cases of gastric and esophageal cancer, considered among the most complex and challenging cancers in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis was placed on enhancing the quality of care and exchanging medical expertise based on best regional and international practices.
The session was moderated by Professor Ahmed Magdy Rabie, Assistant Professor at the National Cancer Institute in Egypt, a step that contributes to connecting the Libyan medical community with advanced experiences and expertise in the field of oncology treatment.
