Mellitah Oil and Gas launches its tree planting campaign at El-Feel oil field

Mellitah Oil & Gas Company announced today the successful completion of its second complex heavy lifting operation at the Bouri offshore field. The company hailed this new technical achievement as a reflection of its advanced operational capabilities,

This operation is part of the Bouri Gas Exploitation Project, which aims to enhance production and reduce emissions. The operation involved lifting and installing the gas utilization project units on Platform No. 4 at the offshore field, with a total weight exceeding 5,200 tons.

This step complements the company’s success last October in installing the gas compressor system on the Sabratha offshore platform. The new units aim to fully utilize the gas production capacity of the two platforms at the Bouri field, estimated at approximately 120 million cubic feet per day.

Eliminating gas flaring and achieving “zero flaring” target by 2030
This supports the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) drive to eliminate gas flaring and achieve its “zero flaring” target by 2030.

A source from the operating management committee of Mellitah Oil and Gas told Libya Herald that this step represents a significant leap forward in enhancing the efficiency of associated gas utilization and reducing losses due to flaring.

The source indicated that the project would contribute to increased production rates, support gas supplies to power plants and local industries, reduce carbon emissions, and generate additional economic returns for the country.

Immediately after the lifting operation was completed, technical teams began the necessary connection and technical modifications to integrate the new units with the existing operating systems, adhering to the highest safety and quality standards.

The company is also utilizing the scheduled downtime of the two platforms, which began on May 17 and will last for one month, to carry out comprehensive maintenance and upgrade the control systems to align with the new expansions.
