Trans-Sahara Oil Services Company held a workshop at the Radisson Blu Al Mahary Hotel on the use of non-metallic pipes in the oil sector, with the participation of the Omani Pipe Industry Company Limited, and in the presence of oil experts from Libyan oil companies and representatives of the National Oil Corporation.

Commenting on the workshop, the Chairman of the Trans-Sahara Oil Services Company, Naaman Elbouri, told Libya Herald, “We are seriously seeking to help the oil sector in Libya to use advanced and modern technologies in the field of oil in general, and in the field of conveying news through environmentally friendly pipelines with a long-life span. This technology related to the use of non-metallic pipes made of glass fibres and other environmentally friendly materials, corrosion-resistant and leak-proof, and lives for a long period of time without the need for maintenance or change, is a new technology for Libya despite its use in the world in the field of oil and other fields for years’’.

Elbouri pointed out the importance of using these pipes, which reduce costs and preserve the crude while transporting it through them, especially since their life expectancy reaches 50 years, and the cost of transporting and installing them is cheap due to their light weight, in contrast to the heavy metal pipes used in the oil field’.

He stresses the desire of the oil companies to transfer the oil from the fields to the tanks in the oil ports through such pipelines, especially since the National Oil Corporation approved its plan to reach production of 2 million barrels per day within two years.

Elbouri said that the Trans-Saharan Company had an idea in 2012 to set up a factory with the Omani Pipes Company Limited to manufacture such pipes in Libya, but due to the conditions of the country at the time, the project stopped, but with the stability of the country now, they returned to thinking about establishing a factory in Libya for this product.
