Libya’s National Oil Wells Drilling & Workover Company (NWD), an NOC subsidiary, revealed that it had completed maintenance work on 188 wells and drilled 21 wells for several of the NOC's subsidiaries.

The revelation came during a presentation summary by NWD of its work during the period under review.

NWD also highlighted the development of their technical staff through the establishment of a Drilling Engineering Department within the new organisational structure and the expansion of integrated drilling projects.

This came during the annual technical and financial meeting between the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and NWD at the NOC’s Tripoli headquarters today.

The meeting was held to discuss the performance of the NWD and the development of its operational capabilities, along with its programmes and plans aimed at developing drilling and well maintenance services and enhancing the readiness of its fleet and equipment.

During the meeting, the company's management emphasized the importance of this gathering in reviewing performance and discussing the challenges facing its operations.

The accumulation of outstanding payments from clients
The meeting also addressed the challenges facing the company, primarily the accumulation of outstanding payments from clients and the resulting impact on the company's ability to procure spare parts, carry out maintenance, replacement, and upgrade work, and maintain the readiness and efficiency of drilling rigs and equipment.

The company's management expressed its hope for continued support from the NOC in addressing outstanding receivables from operating companies, which will contribute to enhancing its ability to implement its programs and maintain the efficiency of its fleet.

The company also reviewed its efforts to improve operational efficiency, enhance maintenance programmes, develop its fleet and equipment, strengthen its safety system, and continue developing its capabilities in implementing integrated drilling projects.

Prioritising the NW within the NOC's subsidiaries' work
The meeting emphasized the importance of prioritising NWD within the NOC's subsidiaries' work related to drilling and well maintenance. This will ensure the continued operation of its fleet, leverage its national capabilities and expertise, and support these companies in implementing their operational programs and increasing production.

The meeting was part of the technical and financial meetings held by the NOC with its subsidiaries to monitor technical, financial, and operational performance for 2026, discuss challenges, and develop recommendations and solutions to improve performance and enhance the efficiency of oil operations.

The meeting was attended by relevant department directors and specialists from the NOC, as well as the Chairman and members of the Management Committee and department directors from the National Oil Corporation.
