The Minister of Housing and Construction, Essam Al-Tamouni, accompanied by an executive team from the Chinese Nantong Construction Company, conducted an inspection visit yesterday of the Prefabricated Building and Structural Components Factory in the Sidi El-Sayeh area to assess its technical condition and explore the possibility of restarting operations.

This comes on the back of a meeting between the two sides last Tuesday (18 August) where the Chinese company had expressed its readiness to finance several investment and industrial projects in Libya.

The visit addressed coordination mechanisms between the two sides for the factory's maintenance and rehabilitation, paving the way for its reopening and leveraging its capabilities to support Libya’s prefabricated building industry.

The Ministry said this would contribute to the implementation of housing projects and enhance the utilization of available resources in Libya’s housing and urban development sector.

‎This visit comes within the framework of coordination and alignment between the two companies to maintain and rehabilitate the factory in preparation for its reoperation, given the strategic importance of this facility as a basic base for the development of the prefabricated construction industry and in a way that supports the implementation of the upcoming housing projects within the Ministry's plan to harness all available national capabilities to contribute to the advancement of the housing and construction sector.
