The National Development Agency (NDA), controlled by the Hafter family, reported last Friday (27 March) that its Sirte Agricultural Project number 87 has reached 80 percent completion.
The project focuses on cultivating strategic grains, primarily wheat and barley, across an area of 350 hectares.
The NDA says the project comes within the framework of the national drive towards building a balanced and sustainable economy. It stands as a prime example reflecting the features of Libya’s Vision 2030, which is based on supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing self-sufficiency.
The project, the NDA adds, represents a fundamental pillar within a package of development projects aimed at utilizing Libyan land and restoring its vital role in agricultural production.
Food security and reducing dependence on imports
The project’s 80% completion rate for the agricultural season, the NDA explained, is an indicator that reflects the seriousness and commitment to achieving development goals. As the harvest season approaches, the fruits of this work are evident in supporting food security, reducing dependence on imports, and moving forward towards a genuine agricultural renaissance that restores the land to its rightful place and the nation to self-sufficiency.
