A scientific economic symposium, titled “Transit Trade and Logistics Transformation: A Lever for Sustainable Development and Enhancing Economic Sovereignty,” was held yesterday at a leading Tripoli hotel. The General Union’s Director General, Dr. Samir Al-Tarmal, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the Union’s pivotal role in supporting the logistics and transit trade sector. He described it as a promising sector that contributes to diversifying the national economy and strengthening Libya’s position as a regional trade hub.
He emphasized that the success of these projects requires integrated efforts between the public and private sectors to ensure the achievement of development goals and enhance the competitiveness of the Libyan economy.
The symposium’s proceedings were divided into four scientific sessions, during which several specialized research and studies were reviewed. These were:
- Addressing prospects for developing logistics infrastructure.
- Mechanisms for attracting investment.
- The role of free zones in supporting the national economy.
- Policies that would enable Libya to compete in global supply chains.
