Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, Aziz Mohamed Saleh, and the Chairman of Egypt’s Arab Contractors Company, Ahmed El Assar, signed an agreement protocol to launch the studies for the construction of the transit road linking Chad with Egypt via Libya.
Several Egyptian media outlets reported today that the signed protocol includes the completion of detailed technical studies necessary to start the implementation of the route. This initiative comes within Egypt’s broader framework for infrastructure development and promotion of cross-border exchange.
In turn, Minister Aziz Mohamed Saleh, on behalf of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby, and the Chadian government stressed the importance of this project for Chad as well as for Egypt, as it contributes to improving communication between the two countries.
It will be recalled that the Arab Contractors Company had already signed last September an agreement with the eastern-based and Hafter controlled Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, for the part of the middle section of the road located within Libya.
The Egyptian Chadian agreement thus completes contracts and agreements for the construction of the road for all parts located within the countries of Chad and Libya, allowing the immediate start of study and implementation work.
