Libya’s Tripoli based Ministry of Transport reported last Tuesday (9 December) that an official virtual meeting was held on the same day between the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Libyan-Turkish Joint Committee, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, and the Turkish Minister of Trade, to follow up on bilateral cooperation files and support development projects between the two countries.
The Ministry reported that representatives of the Libyan Turkish Joint Committee, the Turkish Contractors Association, the Turkish Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, and several executive bodies from both sides participated in the meeting.
Stalled projects discussed
The meeting discussed the status of joint projects and the technical, financial, and procedural challenges hindering their completion, emphasizing the importance of overcoming these obstacles to serve the interests of both countries.
The two sides agreed to develop a clear timetable for addressing outstanding issues and to establish practical mechanisms for implementation and follow-up, ensuring the strengthening of cooperation and propelling it towards broader horizons in the coming phase.
The Ministry said this meeting reflects the shared commitment to supporting the strategic Libyan Turkish partnership and enhancing development and reconstruction efforts to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly nations – the usual Libyan government code for restarting stalled and incomplete projects and paying outstanding debts to Turkish construction companies.
