The Attorney General’s Office reported late yesterday that both the pilot and copilot of the private jet that crashed at Misrata Airport last Monday (14 September) have been found intoxicated.
The Attorney General’s Office did not confirm their nationality.
They have both been put in pre-trial detention pending further investigation.
It will be recalled that Cessna Citation Latitude C68A had veered off the Misrata Airport runway during its attempted landing, crashing into flames.
The plane had no passengers, arriving from Istanbul with just the pilot, copilot and a flight attendant, scheduled to pick up VIP passengers.
All three crew, reportedly of Turkish nationality, survived the burning wreckage unscathed.
