Waha Oil Company announced yesterday that it had achieved a production rate of 365,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil – the highest number it had reached in recent years.
Waha said the figure reflects the success of its plans to increase its production capacity and is a qualitative leap compared to the levels recorded during the previous year and the first quarter of 2025.
Strategy of gradual production increases
It said this production achievement also confirms the company’s commitment to implementing its announced development strategy aimed at gradually increasing production.
Well maintenance and activation programmes, drilling new wells
The company confirmed that achieving this production level came as a result of the implementation of well maintenance and activation programmes, in addition to drilling new wells.
NOC target of 2 million bpd
It added that this production increase enhances its contribution to supporting the National Oil Corporation’s plan, which aims to reach a production of more than two million barrels per day in the coming years.
Waha’s pivotal role in Libyan oil sector
This achievement is expected to open the door to increasing the production capacity of the Libyan oil sector and reflects the pivotal role of Waha as one of the main pillars of the country’s energy supply, it concluded.
