Libya and Indonesia discussed fisheries and aquaculture.
The discussions took place yesterday during a visit by Indonesia’s Chargé d’affaires in Libya, Didi Ahmed Al-Rifai, to the Minister of Marine Resources, Adel Sultan, at his Tripoli office.
The meeting included the Chargé d’affaires’ accompanying delegation, which included Robet Edwin Watema, Economic Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Riyadi Shukri Haroun, Economic Affairs Officer.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture. This included:
- Follow-up training programmes for Libyans in Indonesia in the fields of fishing and aquaculture.
- Exploring the possibility of concluding a cooperation agreement in these areas.
In the meeting the two parties agreed on:
1. Continuation of training programmes for Libyans in Indonesia.
2. Coordination of visits to aquaculture projects in Libya.
3. Preparing for a joint agreement in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture with a focus on training, research and studies programmes.
