The African Union is to reopen its Tripoli office.
This comes after the Tripoli based Libyan Acting Foreign Minister, Tahar Al-Baour, signed an agreement to that effect with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adewe, in the presence of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the 46th session of the Executive Council of the African Union in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, yesterday.
The Tripoli based Libyan Foreign Ministry said that the resumption of the work of the AU Tripoli office comes as a confirmation of the state of security and stability in Libya with the return of many embassies and diplomatic missions to the capital. It said this contributes to activating the tracks of diplomatic consultation and coordination to serve the interests of the Libyan people.
