Libya’s Airports Authority reported yesterday that Benghazi’s Benina Airport received in the past few days a delegation from the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority and Royal Jordanian Airlines, headed by the head of the security office of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority.
The Jordanian delegation was received by the Director General of the airport, together with specialists from the Standards Conformity Department at the Airports Authority, the Civil Aviation Security and Facilities Office, and a number of directors of the competent departments.
The visit aimed to assess the readiness of the airport to resume flights with Jordan, where the delegation toured the airport to see the infrastructure and security and operational procedures.
This visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between Libya and Jordan, and facilitating travel between the two countries. The Libyan Airports Authority reported that the delegation expressed its readiness to restart Jordanian flights to Benina airport, reflecting their commitment to strengthening air links and providing better passenger services.
Royal Jordanian flights to Tripoli
It will be recalled that Royal Jordanian resumed flights on 21 October this year between the Jordanian capital Amman and Tripoli’s Mitiga airport – after a ten-year hiatus.
Royal Jordanian is operating three flights per week to Tripoli on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Most Libyan visitors go to Amman for its highly regarded medical treatment.
