For the third time in around two days, a third and widespread power blaclout has hit most cities in the western region.
The southern region has also been in a complete power blackout since yesterday.
The blackouts were so concurrent that some regions did not realise that one blackout had been ended and that another had occurred.
Besides the high demand because of the extremely high summer temperatures, there are reports that some citizens, fed up with the non-stop power cuts, have taken it upon themselves to turn power back on for their districts. This has caused the grid to collapse.
There are also reports of fires in some substations.
For example, the Tripoli branch of the Electricity Police reported a fire in one of the cables of the 11 kV power station in the Najma Street area, which supplies a number of facilities, as a result of increased loads inside the station.
The competent authorities are continuing their investigation and inspection work to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
The power cuts, as would be imagined, have affected all facets of life.
Mitiga Airports has reportedly ceased operating temporarily with passengers and flights stranded as the border computer system was reported as being down.
The Man-Made River reported it had lost total power supply. Reports say banks and teleccommunications are paralysed. Queues are forming at petrol stations as those without generators or diesel to operate them, are unable to supply petrol.
