Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, received the French President's Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, today. Soler conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The meeting addressed the latest political developments in Libya and the initiatives proposed to support the political process and unify state institutions. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to unify state institutions and support initiatives that achieve stability and pave the way for elections.

The meeting also discussed bilateral relations between Libya and France and ways to strengthen them, particularly in the areas of economic and development cooperation.

The government reported (confirmed) that arrangements are also underway to resume direct flights between the two countries by the end of September.

Resumption of flights
It will be recalled that on 30 July, the CEO of MedSky, Siraj Al-Fitouri, announced that the carrier will be launching flights to Paris – the first in over 15 years - ‘‘soon’’. Today’s government report puts it at ‘‘by the end of September’’.

This will be MedSky’s seventh European destination after Athens, Dusseldorf, Madrid, Malta, Milan, and Rome.

Other flights to European destinations soon?
In other recent posts on his social media account, Al-Fitouri has hinted of more new European destinations, including to London.
