London, 18 August 2021:

Libya’s Minister of Health, Ali Zanati, signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday with his Turkish counterpart, Fahrettin Koca, at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Health in the fields of health and medical sciences.

The memorandum provided for cooperation in the fields of hospital management, and short-term training for medical staff, especially with regard to developing health care services and combating the emerging corona virus pandemic. This included:

  • Equipping, operating and managing some hospitals and Coronavirus Isolation Centres.
  • Strengthening cooperation in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.
  • Contact between Turkish training and research hospitals to train and improve Libyan medical cadres.

Libya’s Health Ministry reported that the cooperation comes from the two sides’ keenness to deepen cooperation and partnership within the framework of strengthening the friendly relations dictated by the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, and supporting them on the basis of mutual benefit in the health field.
