The Chairman of the Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA), Mohamed Al-Hangari, held a meeting with representatives of the Norwegian-based company, ELDI, to discuss possible cooperation in implementing an aquaculture project using floating fish cages.

Several LEDA department and office directors, Dr. Masouda Bouarousha, Director of the National Aquaculture Project at the Ministry of Marine Resources, and representatives from the Ministry and relevant technical bodies participated in the meeting.

The meeting discussed leveraging the expertise of ELDI, a leading global company in aquaculture technologies, which possesses decades of experience in designing and implementing floating cage projects and providing integrated engineering solutions.

ELDI also implements projects in several countries, relying on an international network of expertise and specialized services in this sector.

The company representatives presented the latest technologies and solutions used in aquaculture projects, and the mechanisms for their implementation in a way that suits Libya's natural resources, contributing to the development of the marine resources sector, enhancing food security, and creating new investment opportunities that support non-oil exports.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a technical committee, chaired by Dr. Masouda Bouarousha, comprising representatives from LEDA, the Ministry of Marine Resources, and other relevant technical bodies.

This committee will be responsible for preparing technical studies and conducting field visits to the proposed sites, with the aim of evaluating them and submitting them to the company for further technical studies, ultimately leading to the implementation of the project.

LEDA said this project is part of its efforts to diversify national exports, capitalize on the country's abundant marine resources, and develop high-quality, value-added projects that contribute to strengthening the national economy and enhancing the competitiveness of Libyan products in international markets.
