The Indian trade delegation on a four-day visit to Libya, headed by the Indian Deputy Minister of External Affairs, continued its meetings in both western and eastern Libya over the last days.

On Monday 29 June the delegation met with Misrata Free Zone (MFZ). MFZ reported that the visit focused on ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation and encourage Indian companies to capitalize on the investment opportunities offered by MFZ, given its advanced infrastructure, digital capabilities, and strategic location that supports commercial and logistical activities.

It reported that the delegation was briefed on several existing Indian investments within MFZ, as part of efforts to strengthen international partnerships and expand the horizons of economic cooperation.

Indian delegation meets LBC Eastern branch
On Tuesday 30 June, the Indian delegation was hosted for a working dinner by the Libyan Business Council (LBC) Eastern Branch in Benghazi.

The delegation was received by members of the LBC's board and affiliated companies, along with representatives from government institutions concerned with economic affairs in the country.

The LBC said the meeting included extensive discussions between the two sides, during which a presentation was given outlining the LBC's activities and reviewing the long history of economic and trade cooperation between Libya and India, with a focus on exploring ways to develop this cooperation further.

The presentation also highlighted promising investment opportunities available in Libya.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the LBC reported that the Indian delegation emphasized its commitment to strengthening relations with the Libyan business sector.

Facilitation of Indian visas to Libyan business leaders
The LBC reported that the Indian delegation expressed their readiness to facilitate visa applications for Libyan companies affiliated with the LBC and to work towards establishing an effective and direct communication mechanism with the Libyan business community through the LBC.

Indian delegation meets Benghazi’s Julyana Free Zone Port
Last Tuesday (30 June) the Indian delegation was also hosted by Benghazi’s Julyana Free Zone Port (JFZ). JFZ reported that the meeting aimed at exploring the port's capabilities and opportunities for cooperation and investment.

The delegation also toured the port, where they were briefed on ongoing development projects designed to enhance operational efficiency and the port's capacity to handle various types of vessels and cargo, thereby strengthening its competitiveness and supporting its role as a key logistics hub in the region.
