Daniela Strizak, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, responsible for Middle Eastern and African affairs, and her accompanying delegation, part of a Serbian delegation visiting Tripoli, met last Monday (29 June) with the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, headed by its Chairman Mohamed Raied, at its Tripoli headquarters.
The General Union said the meeting took place within the framework of the Serbian economic delegation's visit to Libya to discuss ways to develop economic and trade relations and strengthen the partnership between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.
The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation in several vital sectors and the importance of utilizing Libya's resources and potential.
It also focused on raising the level of economic and trade cooperation to contribute to achieving common interests and opening new horizons for partnership and the development of strategic industries in Libya.
The meeting was also attended by the Director General of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, the Union's Advisor for Training and Foreign Trade, the Union's Advisor for International Relations, heads of several chambers of commerce, company presidents, and businesspeople. Several representatives from Serbian economic and industrial institutions and companies were also present.
The Serbian trade delegation meets Misrata Chamber of Commerce
Last Tuesday (30 June) Misrata Chamber of Commerce received the Serbian delegation headed by the Serbian Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms. Jagoda Lazarević, and including Serbian government officials, Ms. Ana Stojanović, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives from leading Serbian companies operating in the trade, industry, agriculture, and services sectors.
Several members of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several businesspeople, and prominent figures from Misrata were also present.
Misrata Chamber introduced its role in developing the economy within its administrative area, as well as the commercial and industrial importance of Misrata. The meeting also included introductions of participating Libyan and Serbian companies and efforts to establish connections between them.
Several topics of mutual interest were discussed, emphasizing the importance of supporting communication between the business communities of both countries and encouraging reciprocal visits to contribute to building effective and sustainable economic partnerships.
MoU signed between the two Chambers of Commerce
The two sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Misrata Chamber of Commerce and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The signing ceremony was attended by the Serbian Minister of Trade, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Libya, and the Libyan Chargé d'affaires to the Republic of Serbia.
This memorandum will serve as a first step towards organizing joint exhibitions of Libyan and Serbian industries in both friendly countries, in addition to holding economic conferences and other diverse events.
Misrata Chamber of Commerce said this visit comes within the framework of strengthening economic and trade relations between Libya and Serbia and opening new horizons for cooperation and partnership between the two countries, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, industry, and services.
