Libya Moves Forward With 10,680-Unit Tajoura Housing Project

The National Housing and Real Estate Development Programme (NHRDP) discussed last Thursday (10 September), with the Tajoura Municipality and the Arab Union Contracting Company, the executive measures required to launch the project for the construction, completion, and development of 10,680 housing units in Tajoura, as part of the Prime Minister’s housing initiative.

The meeting, held at the Tajoura Municipality headquarters, reviewed technical and executive arrangements as well as coordination mechanisms among the relevant entities.

Attendees included Faisal Bin Dardaf, Director General of the (NHRDP); Abdel-Fattah Al-Turki, Mayor of Tajoura; and Salem Abu-Lifah, Director General of the Arab Union Contracting Company, alongside members of the Municipal Council, specialists from relevant bodies, and representatives from the Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB).

First phase of 2,500 units
The Arab Union Contracting Company has taken possession of the project site and begun preparing technical and engineering studies. This serves as a prelude to constructing 2,500 housing units in the first phase, part of a broader plan to complete and develop the project 'in accordance with approved schedules and milestones.

Following the meeting, participants conducted a site visit to inspect the condition of the buildings, facilities, and work already completed. They identified the technical requirements needed to resume operations, emphasizing the need to expedite procedures, prepare the site for construction, and strengthen coordination among stakeholders to drive the project toward completion.
