Tripoli, 29 January 2022:

Libya’s Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, issued Resolution No. 39 of 2022 yesterday, appointing Ramadan Abu Janah, Deputy Prime Minister, with the tasks of running the Ministry of Health.

The appointment comes after the previous fulltime Health Minister, Ali Zanati (and his Deputy), was detained by the Attorney General accused of financial corruption on 25 January.

Analysts in Libya interpreted the appointment of a caretaker Minister to run the Health Ministry as a sign that former Minister Zanati’s case could be lengthy and that Prime Minister Aldabaiba was not expecting him back in his post soon.
