Tripoli, 14 February 2014:
Flight co-operation could be on the cards for state-owned airlines Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines . . .[restrict]following talks this week.
A scheme of joint operations from Libyan airports was discussed at the meeting, held at the Libyan Airlines Benghazi headquarters. A joined-up system of ticket sales and flight schedules also featured in the talks, with a view to making operations more cost-effective and reducing delays.
A video presentation about setting up an integrated maintenance and supply centre in Benghazi was shown and the benefits of operating Airbus A330s on long-distance services discussed. Debts both companies owe were also addressed, with ways to settle such debts aired.
Both airlines have been steadily increasing routes and destinations since restarting operations after the revolution and today Libyan Airlines announced a new weekly flight, on Mondays, between Obari and Benghazi. [/restrict]
