Libya’s Tripoli based Ministry of Transport reported today that Mitiga International Airport received today a delegation from the French Civil Aviation authority (DGAC).
The Ministry said the visit aims to oversee and monitor audit procedures, as well as to review operational workflows across the airport’s various departments and sections.
The visit, the Ministry reported, aims to pave the way for the return of direct scheduled flights between the capitals Tripoli and Paris. The privately-owned and EU registered Libyan carrier, MedSky already operates direct chartered flights between Tripoli’s Mitiga and Paris.
The delegation was welcomed by the Director General of Mitiga International Airport, the Assistant Director General, several department directors from the Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation authority, and representatives from the airport’s security services.
The six-day visit will include a comprehensive inspection of the airport’s facilities and infrastructure, allowing the delegation to examine operational mechanisms, established procedures, and the level of compliance with approved civil aviation standards and requirements. Other airports will also be inspected.
This visit is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the civil aviation sector, enhance performance standards, and further develop the airport’s operational systems.
The French delegation also held talks with Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority.
