French authorities have advised against travel to Libya, including the capital, Tripoli.

Exceptions are made for Misrata, Sirte, and Benghazi, though visits to these locations should be limited to cases of absolute necessity, according to the latest update to French travel guidance.

The guidelines warn of volatile security conditions, armed clashes, and an elevated risk of kidnapping and crime. French citizens who find it necessary to travel to Libya are urged to implement stringent security measures.

French authorities also clarified that consular services continue to be managed from Tunisia, despite the reopening of the French Embassy in Tripoli on 29 March.
